Advisory about Fraud Calls

Dated: 24 August 2020

Be alert of fraud calls made from spoofed numbers or fraud emails sent from forged sender addresses.

The fraudsters claim themselves to be officials of the Embassy of India, Berlin or of the Indian Consulates in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. Apart from misguiding people with claims of wrong immigration data entry, etc., the fraudsters are also misusing the pandemic situation to exploit people in the name of Covid-19 Verification/Survey.

Please note that this Embassy does not conduct any such verification or surveys on Covid-19, neither is money asked to be paid for over phone calls or through emails.

It is, therefore, advisable NOT to share any of your personal details with anyone or to make any payment without ascertaining the identity of the person. Such calls should be ignored and reported to this Embassy promptly by sending an email to ca.berlin@mea.gov.in .
